MOSS MADDEN MEMORIAL MEDAL

In September 2000 the British & Irish Section of the RSA announced that the Moss Madden Memorial Medal would be awarded on an annual basis to the members of the Section who author the best article published in a regional science journal in a calendar year. For details click here.

  • Alessandra Faggian, Economic Geography, University of Southampton, and Philip McCann, Department of Economics, University of Waitako, New Zealand, were the joint winners of the 2006 Moss Madden Memorial Medal awarded at the annual conference of the British and Irish Section of the Regional Science Association International held in Bangor, Northern Ireland. Their prize article: "Human capital flows and regional knowledge assets: a simultaneous equation approach," was published in Oxford Economic Papers 2006 58(3): 475-500.
  • Amit Batabyal, Arthur J. Gosnell Professor of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts, won the 2004 Moss Madden Memorial Medal, awarded by the British and Irish Section of the Regional Science Association International. The award was given to Batabyal for his paper, “The persistence of ecological-economic systems: alternate measures and their properties,” published in the Annals of Regional Science.
  • The Moss Madden Memorial Medal for 2001 was awarded to Dr. Bernard Fingleton of the University of Cambridge for his paper entitled Equilibrium and Economic Growth: Spatial Econometric Models and Simulations published in the Journal of Regional Science, Vol. 14,1.
