Interdisciplinary Analysis and Policies for Regional Sustainability

The Regional Science Association International (www.regionalscience.org/) will organize a Summer Course, on the theme Interdisciplinary Analysis and Policies for Regional Sustainability, that will be held from the 1st till the 4th of June 2015 at the Dilijan, Armenia.

The goal of the Summer Course is to provide PhD-students and young researchers with 
  • Advanced training in policy analysis of complex territorial systems. A special look into energy, environment and urban systems.
  • An opportunity to present and discuss their research, 
  • A chance to obtain improved skills, knowledge and scientific social capital to advance their careers as researchers. 

The summer course will take place during four highly focused and intense days of advanced training, student presentations and debates, and discussion of career strategies. It will also include a study visit (excursion) to Sevan lake, Echmiatsin, Sardarapat, Noravanq, Khor Virap, Eghegis that will complete the unique experience of the summer course.


The summer course will focus on various themes:
  • Regional growth and disparities
  • Fiscal decentralization, efficiency and growth
  • Government quality and spatial inequality
  • Clusters, proximity, and regional innovation policies
  • Regional development and territorial governance
  • Regional development in rural and peripheral areas
  • Spatial econometrics and CGE Modelling
  • Investment and Impact Assessment
  • Transportation analysis and policy
  • Innovations and Entrepreneurship
  • Innovation and Regional Growth in the EU
  • World Financial Crisis Aftermaths
  • Spatial models in agricultural sector
  • Sustainable development and globalization
  • Integrating spatial models into regional energy system optimization

The Summer Course will be taught in English.
